Personalised one-to-one tutoring
Tailored to your child’s learning needs
GCSE years are challenging. Every subject is important, pressure mounts as the exams loom, and the whole experience is intimidating. The UK’s one-size-fits-all approach to assessing student progress is an equity nightmare which we are here to ease. We listen, understand, and adjust. While we can’t change the exams, we can focus on equipping students with the skills and confidence to pass them.
What we can help with:
The academic jump from GCSE to A-level is both unexpected and notoriously staggering. Even students who achieved a high GCSE grade find themselves struggling to adjust to the expectations of A-level English Language and Literature. We aim to remind students that no one has been handed a secret manual that unlocks the mysteries of writing extended essays overnight – it’s a process, and we’re here to support your child through it.
What we can help with:
At university level, English is no longer only about Shakespeare. Students are expected to research topics autonomously and read widely – widely and deeply – engaging with others’ ideas critically. University English is about appreciating language on a whole new level, one that is unlocked by critical frameworks and the dreaded academic writing.
What we can help with:
Because we are small, we don’t do large tuition centre-style classes. We focus on one student at a time through personalised tuition, whom we have no intention of squeezing into a pre-made system and hope for the best. We follow the below steps to establish the learning path for a student:54
We start with a detailed assessment of how a student learns: do they need repetition, visuals, oral explanation along the written one? What do they want to achieve? What do they do to remember or practice something? We look at their learning habits, level of confidence, and current skills to establish the best way to support them.
We benchmark against the end of year expectations of the student’s current year. For students taking GCSE and above, we compare their progress to their exam board or degree programme requirements. We look for surface-level issues and deeper thinking challenges to identify the priorities that will make the greatest impact.
We take hobbies, passions, and interests into account when we create the personalised learning plan because if an hour a week is going to make a difference, it won’t be through teeth-grinding boredom. This plan is not set in stone, though – as confidence grows and understanding deepens, the plan adapts. The final goal, however, doesn’t change: becoming an independent, self-assured learner.
We start with a detailed assessment of your current skills, confidence, learning
habits, and goals. This isn’t about labelling — it’s about understanding how you
think, where you excel, and what support will help you most.
Using your learning profile, we carry out a gap analysis against your exam board or
degree programme requirements. We distinguish between surface-level issues and
deeper thinking challenges — then prioritise what will make the greatest impact.
Your learning plan is built on your strengths and designed to support areas of
difficulty. As your confidence grows and priorities shift, the plan adapts.
Independence is always the goal.
Focused one-to-one attention: Families come to us because they want something more thoughtful than a one-size-fits-all service or worse, an after-school 20-student class in a tuition centre. They want a tutor who notices the small things: the hesitation before an answer, the topic that keeps causing trouble, or the shy smile that says “I know the answer but I’m too scared to say it”.

Every student starts with a comprehensive assessment. We create a tailored learning profile that identifies strengths, gaps, and priorities – then build a flexible plan that evolves with the student’s progress.
Our team includes experienced English, Maths, and Science tutors who support students across all major exam boards: AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Eduqas, CIE.
